What We Consider a Correction

Updates Are Not Always Corrections
Not every change to an article represents a correction.
Media careers can change frequently. A journalist may join another network, a meteorologist may move to another station, or a television host may leave a program.
When new information changes an article without indicating that the original information was necessarily wrong when published, we may treat the change as an editorial update rather than a correction.
For example, if an anchor was working at FOX when an article was published and later moves to NBC, the original statement may have been accurate at the time. We may simply update the profile to reflect the person’s current role.

How We Review Correction Requests?
We review correction requests based on the information and evidence available to us.
A request may be reviewed by comparing the disputed information against:
- official sources;
- primary sources;
- reputable news organizations;
- professional organizations;
- direct statements;
- archived information where relevant;
- and other credible sources.
The fact that a correction request comes from the person mentioned in an article does not automatically mean that the article contains an error.
Likewise, the fact that information appears on another website does not automatically establish that it is correct.
Our objective is to determine what information can be reasonably supported by credible evidence.
Corrections Involving Public Figures
AnchorInsider frequently covers journalists, anchors, meteorologists, reporters, television hosts and other public-facing media professionals.
We welcome legitimate corrections from the people we cover, their representatives, employers and readers.
When a person provides information about themselves, we may consider that information as part of our review. Where appropriate, we may also seek independent or authoritative confirmation.
We aim to distinguish between a legitimate factual correction and a request to remove information simply because someone does not want accurate and relevant information to appear.
Privacy and Sensitive Information
Some requests may involve personal or sensitive information rather than a straightforward factual error.
Where a request raises legitimate privacy, safety or other serious concerns, we may evaluate it separately from our ordinary correction process.
AnchorInsider does not intentionally publish highly sensitive private information such as passwords, financial account credentials, government identification numbers or private residential addresses.

Minor Errors
Minor spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting or typographical errors may be corrected without a formal correction notice.
We may also fix broken links, formatting problems or other technical issues without publishing a separate correction statement.
These changes do not necessarily affect the factual substance of an article.
Material Corrections
When a material factual error is confirmed, we may:
- correct the inaccurate information in the article;
- update the relevant section;
- update the article’s modification date where appropriate;
- add a correction note when the nature or significance of the error warrants one;
- or take other reasonable steps to ensure readers are not misled.
The appropriate response depends on the nature and significance of the error.
We do not necessarily publish a separate correction notice for every factual change.
Correction Notes
For significant errors, AnchorInsider may add a correction note to the article explaining that a factual error was corrected.
A correction note may identify:
- what was incorrect;
- what was corrected;
- and when the correction was made.
We aim to keep correction notes factual and transparent without unnecessarily drawing attention to minor editorial changes.
Updating Current Information
Because AnchorInsider covers people’s careers, some information can become outdated even when it was completely accurate when originally published.
We may update profiles when we learn of significant developments such as:
- a network change;
- a new station;
- a new program;
- a promotion;
- a retirement;
- a departure from broadcasting;
- a significant career announcement;
- or another meaningful professional development.
Where appropriate, we may update the Last Updated date to reflect a substantive update.
Sources and Verification
Our editorial team may use multiple sources when evaluating a correction.
We generally prefer authoritative sources, including official network and station pages, professional organizations, university websites, direct statements and reputable publications.
A correction request supported only by an anonymous post, forum comment or unverified social-media claim may require additional verification before we make a change.

What Happens After a Correction Request?
Submitting a correction does not guarantee that an article will be changed.
After reviewing the available evidence, AnchorInsider may:
Correct the information when the evidence supports the requested change.
Update the information when the original information has become outdated.
Add clarification when the original wording is technically accurate but could reasonably be misunderstood.
Leave the information unchanged when we determine that the published information is adequately supported.
Request additional information when the evidence available to us is insufficient to reach a reasonable conclusion.
Good-Faith Requests
We welcome good-faith correction requests intended to improve the accuracy of our content.
We may not act on requests that:
- provide no identifiable factual issue;
- rely entirely on unsupported claims;
- contain intentionally misleading information;
- demand the removal of accurate information without a legitimate basis;
- or attempt to influence editorial coverage through threats or improper pressure.
Legitimate privacy, legal or safety concerns will be considered separately and appropriately.
